I, Tonya actress Margot Robbie, 27, will be joining legendary actors Leonardo DiCaprio, 43, and Brad Pitt, 54, for the long-awaited new Quentin Tarantino movie, set for release next year. The film, named Once Upon a Time in Hollywood, will tell the story of the murders perpetrated by Charles Manson and his “family” cult in 1969 – and will mark 50 years since the horrific events took place. Tarantino has claimed it won’t be a biopic on Manson, but instead will tell the tale of DiCaprio and Pitt’s characters – a former TV star and his stunt double – who are living in Los Angeles at the time. The movie will be DiCaprio’s first project since his Oscar-winning performance in The Revenant, while Brad was last seen in War Machine in 2017. Tarantino described the movie as “a story that takes place in Los Angeles in 1969, at the height of hippy Hollywood. Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognise any more. But Rick has a very famous next door neighbour … Sharon Tate.” Sharon Tate was infamously murdered just weeks away from giving birth, and will be played by Margot Robbie. “So yes, I will need to start researching,” Margot, who appeared alongside DiCaprio in Wolf of Wall Street, told Stuff. Infamous cult leader Manson – who was 83 when he died – had spent four decades of his life in prison, after her ordered members of his cult to go on a killing spree. He ordered his followers, including Susan Atkins, Patricia Krenwinkle and Leslie Van Houten, to murder pregnant actress Sharon Tate, alongside Abigail Folger, Wojciech Frykowski, Steven Parent and Jay Sebring. On a separate occasion, he also ordered the murders of Leno and Rosemary LaBianca.
